It used to be the case that you would walk into a store and find a t-shirt with a design you liked and bought it. While this is still the case in many ways, a whole new avenue has opened up in that you can now more than ever put together you own t-shirt designs. Whether you're choosing to make up your t-shirt from other ready-made images or from your own designs there are some crucial tips to ensure that you get it right first time.
Colour
Colour is the most basic but also one of the most important aspect of your design. This applies to both the colour of the t-shirt and the colour of the design. Different colours of course carry different connotations so make sure that your colour scheme fits with what your t-shirt says. Bear in mind that yellows and whites carry very positive vibrant connotations as opposed to darker colour. Also ensure that the colours don't clash and that the message is able to stand out.
Message
What is it you want your t-shirt to say? You've gone to the extent to design the t-shirt specifically, so it is fairly likely that you will have a massage or design in mind. This message could come in the form of text, pictures or perhaps a logo. Either way, take time to consider exactly what you want it to say about you and your opinions.
Opinionated messages can be great as they suit people with strong personal views. If you really believe in something then there's no harm in letting people know about it. That is of course as long as your opinions aren't too offensive. This can be done with text and often more poignantly with emblems and pictures of historical figures. One of the most popular is of course the revolutionary Che Guvera. You might want to be careful about being too forward about certain political views for instance as this can easily end with you getting more than just abuse thrown at you.
Humour
Humour is another way to go and is generally a lot safer than proactive political opinions. Jokes are pretty common on
personalised t shirts and very often parodies of major organisations come over pretty well. The McDonalds franchise has certainly had a few interesting ones.
Personalised t shirts can provide a great way to show your opinion and can be fun and inexpensive to put together.
